About Me

My photo
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Okay, sup? How you doing? Good! But you're probably here to know about me. I'm Sophie and I'm 15, grade 9, Asian, bla bla bla. I like a lot of stuff! Like books, music, MOVIES (if you want to know which ones, just go down to the bottom)! I want to be a director when I grow up, sooooo fun!! And I've got lots of friends, well, not lots, but a fair bit. People call me hard-working, or just a nerd. I am a nerd, a hard-core nerd, you got a problem with that? Good. I'm also just hard-core, I mean, I've got people's backs, I fight for what I believe in, I say what's on my mind, I don't sway with the crowd. Yeah, anything else? If you have any more questions (Which you probably don't, because you probably know me in real life, and you'll know that Sophie Tribiani doesn't exit, at least I hope I didn't steal someone else's name o.O....) Just read some of my posts, I've got lots!

SO CLOSE

Today is the last day of March, you know what that means!! Four months has past in 2010, and you can still remember what happened 20 years ago, your old! NO, just kidding, I would never call you old to your face. Any way, tomorrow is what??
April Fools!!
NO, wrong again!
Then what's tomorrow?
If you'll wait, then I'll tell you! Okay?? Now wait.
FINE, jeez, spazz much?
What?
Nothing.
No you said something.
Nothing.
No you said something about spazzing, you think I spazzed!?
No, I just think you're being a little overdramatic.
Overdramatic?? LOOKS WHOSE TALKING!
YOU!!
Oh, well, who recites Mortal Devices quotes every day?
It's Mortal Instruments, and you do!
At least you're done with Titanic.
What did you say??!!
I just dissed Titanic, what are you gonna do about it?
Nothing, my teacher reads this blog.
Oh ha, not such a big guy now, are ya?
I was never a big guy!
Figurative speech!
Oh yeah? Then you can go figure my fist out! Punch

See what I just did there?? I had a fight with myself! And what does that mean?
You're weird?
Okay, you have to stop!
Sorry.
Any way, back to my point, it's the beginning of Scriptfrenzy tomorrow, and that's where I get to put my talents to.
Snicker What talents.
WILL YOU STOP!!??
See, over dramatic!
Okay, OUT!!
Of where, I'm in your head.
Then out of my head!!!!!!!!!!
Stop shouting, will you?
AHHHHHHH

Quote of the day:
"Hey, you do a quote every day?
Oh my god, I can't even do this today??"

Extensions and Reflections

Extensions Lesson 25
Name: Jessica Yang

Uh, I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do here, but I think it's a place to review what Go has done for me. To me, I really think Go is a fantastic program that stresses the point of relationships between people and things that are right and wrong. Also, I think it gives a good perspective on what our lives are really like and what we can do about it. It also gives good solutions to problems that happen every day. I think GO changed at least a little part of my life and made it much better than without Go.

Reflections
Decide as a family to model "clear communication" this week, in other words, attentively listening, using appropriate body language, and speaking calmly. Discuss with each other the difference clearly communicating made on your household.

Clear communication makes a big difference in people's lives as well as in the family. Through this, I've noticed we've been able to understand each other a lot better, and also let miscommunication like "Why didn't you say so??"
"I did, you just didn't hear it."
"Well, maybe you can actually say it next time, I find that helps."
"I did say it, it's just you never listen!"
"I always listen, you just never said it!!"
And that's how a fight starts!! But we've been getting less and less of that!

My usual blog:
NOOOOOO!! You know the song Baby by Justin Beiber, I listened to it yesterday and it actually proved very catchy. VERY CATCHY, NOT GOOD! It's just a phase, I can get over it! I still hate Justin Bieber, you can count on that!!

Quote of the day:
"And I was like, baby, baby, baby, ohhh" Justin Bieber

NOOO GET OUT OF MY HEAD!

"Shawty's like a melody in my head, that I can't keep out got me singing like, nananana, every day, like my iPod stuck replay." Sean Kingston

OH LORD!!

"Oh Lord, there aint no heaven... Oh Lord, there aint no heaven." DJ Champion

NOOOO!!

Beginning of another NaNoWriMo

So, I know it's the 29th, and Scriptfrenzy's supposed to be April, but apparently you can start a little early, so since I didn't have homework today, I started it. It's about all the stories in Greek Mythology. It's mainly about the war between the twelve Titans and the Twelve Olympians, but there's a little introduction to every one of them. I know during the war between the Titans and the Olympians, there probably weren't twelve Olympians yet, but no timeline says that there wasn't. Plus, the war was on for like ten years, so probably a lot of them were introduced during the war. It actually proved harder to think about scenes than I'd expected. Plus, it starts off with the Titans, and I have no knowledge of them, I had to use Wikipedia all the way through. But I just can't wait for the Olympians, which is going to be so much easier, since I know a lot about them already. Plus, I sort of meant to do that. The Titan's part will be short, then the war, then the other half of the movie is just intros about the twelve Olympians, so yeah. 100 pages, can I make it??

Quote of the day:
"Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends we choose." Tennessee Williams

What kind of name is Tennessee?? Like "Hey Tennis!!" or "Tennessee Brandon Williams, clean your room!". o.O

Percy Jackson for the second time

Finished my homework today, and, don't tell any one, but I finally found Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief online. It's not like I haven't seen the movie, but it's just great to see it again, they really did a good job on it. But I wonder if there were any fanmade casts before the movie was in works, like the ones that every one's making for City of Bones. I can't wait for that movie to come out, but I have to, considering how it was signed on not too long ago, and how they still haven't hired a casting director yet. But I'm still hoping it'll come out sooner than I think.

Back to Percy Jackson, I just finished Titan's Curse today, and I have Battle of the Labrynth, I've got to read faster!!

Quote of the day:
"It's like high school without the musical." Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the Lightning Thief movie

LOLZ, I love Grover!

NEW BOOTS

I let the screaming, annoying, in your face little girl out of me today!! I got new boots!! There so cool, there spectacular, there the best boots you've ever seen and they were only $50. They will make you feel great, they are comfortable, cheap, pretty, no, beautiful, and they will make all your wildest dreams come true!! It is the best boots the world has ever seen, and it's mine now!! Mine, mine, mine!!!

I started to post and to imagine my post in a gremlin's voice, and now it's hard to stop, so just read the first paragraph again and read it in a gremin's voice, it's soooo cool!! I love patato!

Quote of the day:
"Everything I learned as an actor, I have basically applied to writing." Quenin Taratino

Great director! Happy birthday. (patato)

Yeah

Yay!! New version of Blogger is here! I got to customize a lot of stuff, but not that I really changed anything mager, I really like my template right now!

Okay, so it's the weekend, and I 've still got a lot to do!! This is not good, considering how I really wanted to watch Titanic this weekend. Apparently, from what I hear, James Cameron is going to put it back into theatres, but not just in theatres, but in 3D!!!! OMG, that's like my dream come true! I was one when the movie was out, so I never got a chance to get the theatre experience! But now, I might be able to get the 3D experience!! That's great!! But this is only a rumor, but all rumors are based on something!!!!!!!!!

Went back to my old school today and talked to my old friend who now, thanks to me, loves the Mortal Instruments as well! But I was a little disappointed when she didn't scream and run around in excitement. Then again, she's not the fan girl type.

Quote of the day:
"A liberal is a man too broadminded to take his own side in a quarrel." Robert Frost

LOLZ, I really like the poem the Road Not Taken by him, ever since Edbert and Jamie recited it in English class.

OMG

OMG, I've got three blogs under my hands now, including the Busker Fest thing. I'm still having a little trouble understanding what it really is, but I'm still looking forward to it either way. I just know that I'm diretor, and that's great!!

Any way, today was an easy day, we got a little talk about water cleansing and conservation in Science by someone from UBC, then we watched like five minutes of Braveheart and the Lord of the Rings, which was fun, but Mr Sale still gave us some homework. Oh, well, I'm done any way. Then we got the talk about Busker Fest in Applied Skills, and finally listened to other's poems at English, easy day.

Today, though, we had a small pop quiz in Socials, no surprises there. What was weird was I only took notes and didn't have time to really go through them, and just studied a little beofre that, but I almost got all the questions. Isn't that weird, and I usually study and don't even get this good!

Quote of the day:
"An agent is a person who is sore because an actor gets 90% of what they make." Elton John

LOL, wow, it's been a long time since I've done a birthday quote. Happy birthday, Elton John.

Extensions and Reflections

Extensions Lesson 24
there isn't one

Reflection
Review the effectiveness of Z's communication in the video. What are examples of the ways your family communicates with one another effectively? In what instances are your family's communications ineffective?

I think for the most part, we get our message across, but it's not stated in the best way, probably, and people get angry and misundstand each other, even though they know what each other's meaning is. I think my parents show a wonderful example of this, they tell each other what needs to be told, but in the worst way possible, and there's always misunderstanding. My mom always tells me that she's grown a way for understand my dad even before he gets his message across, but some times her interpretation of his meaning is totally off. Same with my dad, and he's even worse, because sometimes he just cuts you off and not even listen. Through the Go reflections, I think we've done a lot of good work on it, but still not enough, so yeah, I think all we have to do is really listen to each other instead of thinking on our own what the other person's trying to say.

My usual blog: So, today I'm sure there's something cool that's happened, but I just don't know what!! I feel like I'm so tired I can barely think, which is not good, because I still have to download Google Sketchup and work on my poems!! Which reminds me, I still have to write two other poems, and don't even ask why! Also, I'm very crossed about how I'm going to print my poetry book. If I printed like a book and just staple it, then all the prettyness is going to have to come out of my drawing, and I'm not good at drawing, and take forever, and I don't have that time. My other option is to paste it onto construction paper, which I don't have!! And, I have to change my title of the book, I thought of a really good one yesterday, but I've already got one, so I have to paste paper onto the current title, which could actually look good, or is a total disaster. Life is really hard!!

Percy Jackson is awesome!! Today at Math, after we were finished everything, Jamie and I got talking about the series, and she gave me so much spoilers, which is good, actually, because I love spoilers!! I love Percy Jackson, and I want to see the movie again, it was sooooo good!!!!!!!!!!

Quote of the day:
"I am a man, and men do not consume pink beverages. Get thee gone woman and bring me something brown"
"Brown?"
"Brown is a manly colour. In fact look-Alec is wearing it."
"...It was black. But then it faded"
"You could always dress it up with a sequined headband!...Just a thought"
"Resist the urge Alec. You'll look like olivia newton john in XANADU"
"...Not always a bad thing."
The Mortal Instruments, Cassandra Clare

I love Percy Jackson, but nothing can be better than the Mortal Instruments, sorry.

GO OBAMA

I know I'm not American, but I think this is a significant time for all of North America!! He did it!! He got the bill to win!! Good health care in America, here they go! I remember reading about how Nixon tried to do the same, but no one voted for it. I think that's just mean because what a great thing it is giving better and cheater health care to those who needs it. How can you vote against that? But they did. I mean, Nixon and the Watergate situation, yeah I know, but he's done some good stuff too. Back to the bill, it took like, what, 50 years to change their minds? But at least they came around! And that's all it matters!!

Quote of the day:
"I will not eat them in a box
I will not eat them with a Fox
I will not eat them here or there
I will not eat them anywhere
I do not like green eggs and ham
I do not like them, Sam-I-am!"
Dr Seuss

LOLZ, Mr Olson!

All done

Just finished my cheat sheet for Science, and it's like a huge bolder lifted off my shoulder. But I've still have other things to do, like actually studying for the test, and studying for the social's test, and finishing up my poems on the computer, and my French homework, and I have to do most of it before my mom comes home, because then she likes to have to sit down and talk to her instead of doing my homework because she thinks I should have finished when she was away. So I've got to hurry!

We got to watch a strings quartet play today, they came to my old school before and I totally failed my math test!!! It was so hard!!

Quote of the day:
"I do not like green eggs and ham, I do not like it, Sam I am!" Dr Seuss

Did you know he's the best rapper of all? o.O

Homework

Oh, no, so much homework today, luckily I'm almost done what I need to do. I finished the Applied Skills thing, and is officially ready for my social's test. I'm totally worried about my science test though, and it's on the same day as the social's test, but I forgot my text book at school, so I have to do everything tomorrow night, but I can do it, I hope. Any way, I'm sure you can see that I'm very tired because I'm making all these run on sentences, yeah. I've typed all my poems into the computer but forgot that we had to have poetic devices in our poem, actually, Ms Greskiw never asked for those poetic devices, so now I have to write all of them in. Plus, I hate drawing, and I have to do an illustration for every page, and I just finished the cover, wait, it still needs colouring, gosh, so much to do!!

2 days

For the last two days, life was a little hectic, but no fear, I've got it in control now.

So, yesterday I went to the District Science Fair, and it was so fun!! Evan was one of the people who won in our school and who are going to the Regionals at UBC, Vivian and I and Carmen and Iris in SY 9 didn't get in, but it's all good, it would have been more hectic if I got in any way. We've got Evan to represent us any way, so happy for him!! There were also professional presentations for us. Vivian and I went to the Superconductors one and another one about Forensic Science, it was great. At the superconductors, there was this Styrofoam cup with magnets in it and liquid nitrogen and it ran on a track of magnets, suspended with smoke everywhere, it reminded me of some little creature from Harry Potter, it was so cool!!

I've got so much to do this weekend!! We've got a Math test on Monday, and a Science and Socials test on Tuesday!! And I have to help finish the sketches for Applied Skills, and I'm not even designer, but it's just not getting done!! And I left my science textbook at school by accident, and this is like one of the times that I actually need it because we used it a lot!! I'm so screwed!! People's been telling me to calm down, but how can I do a cheatsheet and study for a two chapter test at Monday night alone!!!!!!! I've never done anything at the last minute before!! I don't think I can make it!!!!! I've got to stay cool!!! And I've got the poetry book for English to do!! I've got to chill!!!

Quote of the day:
"Stay calm and aggressive." Gabrielle Reece

THAT DOESN'T HELP!!!

YAYYYY!!

Finally!! I got one of my friends to read City of Bones, and she loved it!! I can't believe it!! She is one of my oldest friends, and her liking it means a lot to me!! I love her for loving it! Who won't love it?? I'm too hyper right now!! But I can't stop, I love the series too much!! OMG, I'm so happy that she read it!! WOW!!! YAYYYYY!! Wait, I've got to calm down!! I've still got Go to do!!

Quote of the day:
"There is no pretending," Jace said with absolute clarity. "I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there is life after that, I'll love you then."

Needless to say more, one of my favourite quotes of all time!!

Extensions Lesson 21
There isn't one.

Extensions Lesson 23
People-watch

Find a place where you'll see a lot of people. Based on what you are observing, how important is nonverbal communication?
Well, today after school I took on some observing of the people going home. There was this one girl who was wearing shorts and a baggy t-shirt and was slouching. Her movements were sloppy, slow, and hesitant. Immediately, I knew she was tired from PE. Then there were this couple who were talking, and the guy made a lot of frantic hand gestured, and the girl just looked like she had enough. Then another girl was looking at her books with a big smile on her face. And there was this other guy, who ran around trying to find something on the ground, and he looked very frustrated. I think these nonverbal gestures are very important in understanding how someone feels.

Reflections Lesson 21
As a family, do you sometimes find yourselves not listening to each other? Does your family use some of the same inattentive listening styles that you saw on the video?

From the feedback of my parents, they feel like both they haven't really been listening to me all the time, and I haven't been really listening to them either. My mom always started talking about how her and my dad's lives are when I try to talk to her about my day. My dad sometimes doesn't like to listen to other's problems, and he just changes the subject or talk about his experiences. They say that when I read, or when I'm really tired, or when I'm doing my homework, I'm really pretending to listen. I say things like: Oh, I know, that's been really hard for you, and, oh, yeah, and oh, of course, and of course not, but they get the feeling that I'm not listening. We all promised to do better, and I really think we can.

Reflections Lesson 23
What are some of the nonverbal ways your family communicates, e.g.., body language & attitude? How do you all interpret those signals?

Well, I think we're pretty good at understanding people, but sometimes we can make mistakes. Like when I first tell my mom that I'm tired, and then after a little bit she just asks me to wash the dishes, even though she sees that I'm slouching and without any energy. Of course, I definitely do that to her as well, but I feel like I help out at home as much as possible. Then again, that could just be my opinion. Sometimes when my parents have a problem with each other or their own families, they always have an angry or grumpy attitude, especially my mom, when she's mad, I generally tend to avoid any talk about me at all, it's better if she just rants and gets it over with rather than spazzing at me. But I know my mom's got her great times, and I think it helps her to rant, there's always something we've got to do to get our anger out, and I know how adults can get very stressed and pressured, and I wish I can help, maybe listening to her rants will help me in life one day.

Cheering myself up

So, since I was sooo sad yesterday, I decided that today I'll to stuff that I like. I went on like ten different Mortal Instruments fansites, read a lot of fanfics for a lot of different stories, and plotted my own story more. This all happened and is continuing after I finished my homework, of course. But I don't have a lot to do today, jsut some math, which I've already finished, and studying for Socials, just in case of a pop quiz, Mr Sale is famous for those, better be on your toes when it comes to pop quizzes. Any way, I think I can manage. I'm having a lot of fun, and the vlog thing is slowly slipping from my mind, which is good. I'm also starting another video project, a tribute to life, one might call it, but hopefully by then I can get my friend's youtube account and post it up there, so at least someone can watch it.

SAD

Well, as you can see, my vlog didn't really work out as I hoped. I took an hour on it, and was really excited for every one to see it, but now it's ruined!! weep, weep So this is what happened: I edited it on Window's Movie Maker and every thing was going so smoothly that it lead me to think that there's nothing else I need to worry about. Then when I got to a new post on Blogger, I clicked video and uploaded my video. Then, after it said upload successful, it told me that it was processing the video and to save it and come back later to publish it. I saved it, but didn't close the window, so it continued to process. After I made three copies and got them to all process, none of them worked. Sooo, I went to edit posts and published the post that was saved. I thought maybe I could trick it, but I guess it didn't process the video after all. It wasn't like I didn't give it enough time, I gave it three hours!! It did nothing!!

Quote of the day:
"A tragedy need not have blood and death; it's enough that it all be filled with that majestic sadness that is the pleasure of tragedy." Jean Racine

Yes, it just has to involve a computer.

Blood Stone

Today I practically did nothing but read. Like seriously, nothing but read. I got to finish the book I need for the Independent reading program call Blood Stone. I've read better books, but I wouldn't say it was the worst I've ever seen. I found it was hard to get into, and it was hard to love the characters. If you have a one novel story, it is generally hard to love the characters the way you would if it was a series, but still, 400 pages could be a lot. But the scenes were constantly changing from past to present, the narator changed from first person to third, so on and so forth. The author didn't really give a lot of dialogue, and the book was filled with descriptions of the scenes. Without a lot of dialogue, it's actually really hard to really get to know the characters. The ending was very disappointing, but I won't say it because then it'll be a total spoiler for people who wants to read the book.

Quote of the day:
"Wear the old coat and buy the new book." Austin Phelps

I would get a new coat and just get the book at the library or from someone else. Up until this day, I have not bought a book on my own, and I own none of my favourite books.

OMG

The cover of the first book of the Infernal Devices series will be revealed in about 5 days!! So excited!! The Infernal Devices are a prequel series for the Mortal Instruments!! It's about this girl named Tessa, I think, in the 19th century. Their first in New York and her brother goes missing. Now she has to go to London and get the help of the Shadowhunters in the London Institute in order to find her brother. It's a great look at how long the Shadowhunter history really is, and apparently there'll be people from the Mortal Instruments appearing in that series. Immortals, of course, not like the sixteen year olds. Any way, the series are connected, and they're from the same author, Cassandra Clare, and she is a pure genius, really!!

Quote of the day:
"Not everything is about you," Clary said furiously.
"Possibly," Jace said, "but you do have to admit that the majority of things are."
-the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

Such good writing, like seriously!! How come I can't do it??

New Moon

LOL, I can't believe it, I'm watching New Moon!! It's better than I thought, and I really like Jacob. I still don't like Bella, though, and I hate Edward Cullen, he puts the Edward name to shame, because I also have characters named Edward and my favourite anime and manga series, Fullmetal Alchemist, is about someone named Edward. But, seriously, still not a great movie, but slowly growing on me because it's a YA book, and I'm into those now.

Can't wait for Script Frenzy next month. It's 100 pages of script about anything in 30 days. I can do it, I did 126 pages in two weeks before. I just need an idea... If you have any good ones, tell me please, or comment!!

200th post, very proud moment.

Finished Project

It feels good to get another project done. It's like a check list, and every single time there's one thing that is checked off, there's one rock that is lifted from my shoulders. I've practiced my violin, I know my gymnastics routine by heart now, I've done my poem, and I've just finished the science hydraulics project and the Applied Skills project, so I have almost nothing else but to read. And I need to read big time!! I've got to finish a lot of books, and soon, because school's going to start soon and I have to have those books ready!!

Quote of the day:
"I definitely feel I do have God in my corner." Chuck Norris

Wow, so sure of himself. Happy birthday.

New Look

My blog got a new look? Do people like?? I love it! It's called Fairy Dust and I love it, but maybe if I find another one, I'll change it again.

So, I went to the library today, and we finalized our design for the catapults!! We're so ready! And when I say that, there's probably like seven thousand things that we've missed.

I worked more at the carnival today, it was the last day anyway and I got to see all my friends, and one that wasn't there before, so that was cool. I also got 40 bucks from working, so that's great!!

My friend and I talked about the Mortal Instruments, and I gave her so many spoilers that I'm really feeling guilty, and usually that doesn't happen with me!

Quote of the day:
"What are you doing?
I happen to be praying for money.
That never works, trust me, I've tried."

Haha, lolz!

WHAT??

WHAT?? Where did that come from?? The Hurt Locker? But I'm really happy that Katherine Bigalo won though, first woman!! Wonder if I'll be the first Asian woman, I mean, Ang Lee was the first Asian, so you can't be that any more. Or maybe I don't have to worry about it, maybe I won't ever get a chance... o.O

Any way, check out Celtic Woman, I'm watching one of their concert on KCTS right now, and it's really beautiful. My favourite one is Lynn Hilary, she reminds me of Alexandra Daddario from Percy Jackson, and I like both her character, Annabeth, and her. I like both their styles, and their pretty.

Check out the best movie of the year: My Precious Avatar was Ingloriously Blindsided so now it's Up Up in the Air in a Hurt Locker getting an Education from a Serious Man on top of District 9. See what I did there, huh?

Quote of the day:

Sunday, March 7, 2010

Sooo...

OSCARS ON!! So excited. But, somehow I feel like Avatar isn't going to win. I mean, every single year, whoever wins Best Picture usually takes home most of the awards it's up for. Like last year, Slumdog won 8, and do I even have to talk about the Titanic? But whatever, got to get back to the show!!

Quote of the day:
"Oh, and there's George Clooney (stare)" Alec Baldwin

LOLZ, the evious stare!

Rest up

I felt like today was my day to just relax and get ready for the chaos. Tomorrow, I would have to get ready for Vivian and Nancy to come on Monday. Plus, I haven't watched a movie for a really long time. And tomorrow's the Oscars!!!!! WOOOO!! I cannot wait! Any way, on Monday, Vivian and Nancy are coming over to work on the science project from 11:30 to 5:00. Then on Tuesday morning I have to meet up with Angel and Tiffany at the Oakridge library to work on the Ping Pong project. Then that afternoon I have to run to daycare to help with the carnival again. On Monday and Tuesday, the other daycares are coming over, so I'm still needed. They would have asked me to come on Monday too, but I told them I had people over. Any way, Wednesday and Friday are booked for family time with my parents, we're going for brunch and then a day trip somewhere on Friday, also very exciting. Wow, that's a lot of stuff to do. Oh, almost forgot, I am being hounded to finish the second book in the Percy Jackson series, and I have to finish the Blood Stone and the Awakening for the Indepedent Reading Program for term 3. Plus, I've got like seven people on my back to get me to continue my trilogy!! Oh, my, so many things!!!!!

Carnival

Today I went to work at the carnival, and even saw Yan and the other guy from previous Middle Years student who I can never spell the name of. Any way, I went to work, just like I'd had for the last five years. Yes, I've worked five years at the carnival. I can work at it backwards and forwards. I've been assigned the prize table ever since I was eight, and it's been the same. Like I said before, it's good to get back to that world again, but it still makes me tired.

Quote of the day:
"I don't want to grow up, I want to be an angst ridden teenager who can't confront his own inner demons and takes it out verbally on other people instead" The Mortal Instruments

I love it way too much, wait, I just realized that you can't ever love that series too much. I even talked about it with my old friends that the carnival today!!

Good Day

Today was a pretty good day. We don't have that much homework, and we have all of next week to do it, we watched James Bond in English, we thought of a good plan for the ping-pong ball thing in Applied Skills, and we did the Scolastic Challenge in Socials, which was actually pretty hard. I really enjoyed the liturature part of the Challenge, but totally failed the Canadian history. I know we're in Canada and we're supposed to know about Canadian history, but we haven't really done it in class since I was in grade 5, and they mainly focused on georgraphy then. But otherwise, good day.

Well, that's depressing!!

Science fair registration

This is so frustrating!! On the registration for the District Science Fair, they ask you so many questions that I don't know what the answer to it is: Teacher's Name, Teacher's Email, Hazardous materials used in the experiment, live animal testing, prefered tour choices, Starlab or Engineering, Medical Alert Info, Who's your daddy? I mean, they didn't exactly ask for my parent's name, but it's just funny to ask that. LOLZ. Any way, it's just hard.

Oh no!! I forgot we have to study brochures!! There's a lot going on these days. I have to remember to bring Ocean's Thirteen for English tomorrow... and remember vocabulary words for Science, and study for French, but I just finished Math, and I have to do my floor rutine for PE... Thank the heavens I've got an agenda!!

Extensions and Reflections

Extensions Lesson 22

A translator helps people who speak different languages to understand each other. On the lines below, describe a situation that you feel strongly about and are willing to discuss with others. For example: angry about your unfair curfew.

Problem: too much pressure on me

I feel like there's a lot of pressure on me on things that I can't control. Like for example problems my parents have with each other, so they talk about it with me and expect me to do something about it, when really it's not even my problem. And if I don't help, it's like I don't care, which is not true because I do care, it's just that it's not my problem to solve. I would rather they hound me on doing my homework and things like that that are actually in my power to change, but resolving other people's problems shouldn't be my responsibility, and there isn't much I can do except give some soothing words. I think I don't exactly need a translator for that, but I would just want people to know that if I don't help them, it's not that I don't care, it's just that it's not in my power or authority to do so.

Reflections

Get your family together and decide to practice listening with your heart this week. Discuss among your family how you all feel when you're really listened to.

The talk was pretty good, though it raised some sensitive areas, I think it can help us with working together and actually mentally helping each other. Sometimes, a person really wants to talk and the listener is just tired from the day they had and maybe isn't in the mood to talk. It really needs both parties to make it right, and a lot of understanding sometimes. But I'm sure we can figure it out with time.

My usual blog:
Today we actually got some really fun assignments. From now on, I want to call assignments missions, because it's just cooler that way. Any way, we first had a mission from Science, and that's to create hydraulic system, and the best part was that we get to work in a group of three, and I'm working with Nancy and Vivian. I don't have to worry about doing all the work this time!! Then we got a mission from Applied Skills about propelling ping pong balls, which sounds pretty fun. I mean, we did an egg-drop every year back in the youth group at my old school, and my group won almost every one. There was one year where we put the egg in a bag filled with air, and the egg was protected by bubble wrap. There was three eggs that actually survived the four story drop, and the staff tried to break them after the drop. The others cracked after they dropped it on the floor, but our staff had to smash it five times to actually get a crack on it. So we totally pwned, and I hope this is similar to that. And finally, in English we were assigned a mission to find a really good poem that you like and remember it so you can recite it, and I find that really amusing, actually. I was thinking of something from Adam and Eve or Dante's Infernal, something Christian. I'm not a Christian, but I just like the stories involved, so dark and mysterious, it's really good!!

Quote of the day:
"There are strange things done in the midnight sun
By the men who moil for gold;
The Arctic trails have their secret tales
That would make your blood run cold;
The Northern Lights have seen queer sights,
But the queerest they ever did see
Was that night on the marge of Lake Lebarge
I cremated Sam McGee. "
-Robert W. Service

I really like this poem, but it's too long, and Ms Greskiw already read it to us. But yesterday, they asked this poem on Jeopardy, and the contestants didn't even get it!!

Langara

Today we ran Langara, and I'm really tired, so I'll keep this post short. Or maybe not...

So any way, first day of the last week of school, pretty happy about that. Not that I don't like school, it's just that I need a break, and I'm sure my teachers will back me up on that. I mean, it's hard working with a bunch Middle Years geeks (sorry if I've offended any one, lolz).

Oh, also, I wanted to inform people about the book I'm reading. I know, I only have five or six followers, and I think that's even bigger than the actual number, but there's already more than fourteen people that reads my blog that I know of. So if you want to read it, or whatever, just send me an email and I'll invite you to the google doc. The more the merrier, it really is just a big party there and I'm the only one working. But I hope this one is better than my other book, where every one just gave up on it...

Quote of the day:
"I am a man, and men do not comsume pink bevrages. Get thee gone, woman, and bring me something brown." The Mortal Instruments

LOLZ!!! I told you these books are the greatest. But what if they want a Bloody Mary, or a Sherley Temple, or a Pink Diamond, or a Frozen Rose, or a Velvet Rose, or a Summer Fresh, oh, oh, one of my favourites, Strawberry Daiquiri? Of course, I've only had virgin Daiquiris, but I'm sure a man would want a non-virgin one...
Just to note, not bragging, I've made almost all of those drinks, virgin of course. (Gosh, I bet if I didn't say virgin, then Mr Olson will have a talk with me tomorrow)

o.O

My Summer Fresh looked so much better than that!
